The short answer: there are four ways to hand off everyday life in India today. You can hire a person, use a WhatsApp concierge run by people, use AI chat apps for advice, or text Kaval, someone on WhatsApp who does the work, follows up until it’s done, and brings in a real person from its team for members when a task needs one. Which one fits depends on how much you hand off, how fast you need it, and what you want to pay.
Disclosure: Kaval is our product. We describe every option, including ours, by what it actually does.
What “everyday life admin” looks like in India
It’s rarely one big job. It’s the steady pile of small ones:
- An electricity bill that jumped, and nobody can explain why
- A gas cylinder, a doctor’s appointment, a passport or RTO slot to book
- A refund that customer care keeps “escalating” and never pays
- School forms, insurance claims, KYC updates and renewals
- Remembering your parents’ medicine refills, a friend’s birthday, the date a warranty ends
- Comparing three options and booking the one that actually fits
Each takes ten minutes to an hour, and most need a follow-up a few days later. The follow-up is where things fall through.
Human, AI, or both
People are better at: judgment calls, persuading someone on a phone call, anything physical like picking up a document, and reading a situation that doesn’t fit a pattern.
AI agents are better at: speed, working at 2 am, reading a 6-page bill in seconds, never forgetting a follow-up, working in any language you write in, and costing far less per task.
The catch with people: they sleep, take leave, cost more, and every assistant sees your personal details. The catch with AI: it can’t knock on a door, and a general chat app only answers. It doesn’t do the task or come back to you.
For most everyday admin, the setup that works is one that handles the routine instantly and brings in a person when a task genuinely needs one.
Your options in 2026
Kaval: someone you text, with real people behind it
Kaval lives on WhatsApp. You send what you need the way you’d message a friend, in your own language, and Kaval does the work: explains the bill, books the appointment, places the order, writes and escalates the complaint, and reminds you before the date. It asks before it acts for you, pauses on every payment, and comes back with updates over days if a task takes that long.
- Human help: for members, a task can be handed to a real person on the Kaval team.
- Speed and hours: replies in moments, at any hour.
- Setup: none. No app, logins or connected accounts.
- Cost: free to start; membership details are on the pricing page.
WhatsApp concierges run by people: Faff and Hulp
These services give you a team of assistants on WhatsApp.
- Faff handles groceries, repairs, appointments, travel, bills, gifting and refund chasing across India. Its site lists ₹1,999 plus GST a month for unlimited tasks, and a ₹399 plus GST “mini” plan for up to 8 tasks a month. It says it does not take on visas, house hunting or business work.
- Hulp pairs human assistants with AI, reachable on WhatsApp and its app, for government paperwork, household management, travel and reservations. As of its August 2026 funding round it served Delhi, Gurugram and Noida, with Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai planned.
Good if you want a team doing a high volume of errands and are happy to pay a fixed monthly fee. Check what each covers in your city before signing up.
A personal or virtual assistant you hire
A full-time assistant, a part-time helper, or a virtual assistant from an agency billed by the hour. NRI families often use concierge agencies for paperwork and errands in India.
Good if you need someone physically present, or have enough work to fill their week. It is the most expensive option, and you manage them.
AI chat apps: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude
Excellent for advice: drafting a complaint, understanding a policy, planning a trip. But you open them and ask; they don’t book, pay, chase or follow up, and they aren’t on WhatsApp in India. More on that in what happened to ChatGPT on WhatsApp.

How to choose
- A few things a week, quickly, in your language: Kaval.
- Many errands a month in a covered city, and you prefer a human team: a WhatsApp concierge.
- Physical errands or a full-time workload: hire someone.
- Advice and drafting only: an AI chat app.
Many families combine them: one place for the daily admin, and a person for the occasional task that needs hands and feet.
Keep your details safe, whoever helps
- Never share OTPs, UPI PINs, passwords or full card numbers with anyone, person or software.
- Anything that spends your money should show you exactly what and wait for your yes.
- Prefer services that tell you who sees your details and why. Read the privacy page before you send documents.
- Scammers pose as “assistants” and “agents” on WhatsApp too. Our WhatsApp scam checker explains the signs.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a personal assistant for everyday tasks in India? Yes: hire a person or agency, use a WhatsApp concierge run by people such as Faff or Hulp, or text Kaval, which does the work, follows up, and hands tasks to a real person on its team for members.
Is a human assistant better than an AI agent? Each is better at different things. People win on judgment, persuasion and anything physical; AI agents win on speed, hours, cost and never forgetting a follow-up.
How much does a personal assistant cost in India? A hired assistant is a salary. Faff lists ₹1,999 plus GST a month for unlimited tasks and ₹399 plus GST for up to 8. Kaval is free to start, with membership details on its pricing page.
What is an everyday life agent? Someone, or something, you hand your life admin to. Unlike a chatbot, an agent does the work, asks before acting for you, and comes back with the result.
